Name
Map geological features on the moon and aid researchers at NASA
Date & Time
Tuesday, August 11, 2026, 3:00 AM - 4:00 AM
Description
Volunteers will directly contribute to real scientific research by mapping the Moon’s surface using high-resolution images from NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter. Using simple web-based tools, volunteers will identify, mark, and measure lunar features such as craters, rocks, boulders, and impact melt flows. The data generated during this activity helps scientists train AI and machine learning models and improves our understanding of asteroid impacts, lunar geology, and future lunar exploration planning.
